A special education advocate is hired to work alongside a parent that is seeking support (not legal advice) on their child’s services provided by their school district or out-of-school district placement.

Meetings are included and discussed with the current special education advocate.
All IEP meetings are attended by the parent and special education advocate.

No, special education advocates are experts that support parents throughout their child’s special education journey.
Most special education advocates are teachers, parents of special needs students, and/or clinical practitioners.
Our special education advocate is a clinical practitioner with expertise in behavior analysis, out-of-district placements, public school placements, and organizational behavior management.

Our primary purpose is to support students and parents navigating the special education system. We work collaboratively with parents on payment plans and financial aide to ensure that student are being well-represented and supported throughout the process.

New Jersey Parental Rights in Special Education (PRISE) - Important document outlining your rights as a parent of a special needs children. This should be offered to you every time you meet with the Child Study Team.
